PREVIOUS PROPERTIES

Hilton Capitol Center

The downtown Heidelberg and Capitol House Hotels had been closed for more than two decades and redevelopment seemed impossible. The abandoned buildings were an eye-sore to the area and it seemed inevitable that the buildings would be torn down. $70 million later, in 2006 CPRT had restored and introduced the new Hilton Capitol Center and brought four diamond elegance and service back to historic downtown Baton Rouge.

Today the hotel welcomes over 150,000 guests annually and was the catalyst to the rebirth and economic engine of downtown Baton Rouge. Commercial Properties assembled the financing, with historic and other tax credits to renovate the hotel, allowing a stimulus in the progress of downtown Baton Rouge. The hotel has sold in 2012 to Rockbridge Capital as part of their extensive hotel portfolio

The Viking Cooking School Outdoors

What was originally the dilapidated pool area of the Capitol House Hotel; The Viking Cooking School Outdoors became one of the most unique cooking experiences in Louisiana. Located on the renovated Hilton Capitol Center’s pool deck overlooking the Mississippi River, The Viking Cooking School Outdoors provided a way for the hotel to give their clientele a once-in-a-lifetime cooking experience. Additionally, local residents could book classes and special events at the school providing additional revenue to the hotel and exposure to the budding redevelopment efforts to historic downtown Baton Rouge.

The School held “Hands-on” daily scheduled classes and private events with the Viking Chef Experience. The Viking Cooking School Outdoors provided a first-class atmosphere for those who love to cook, entertain or just appreciate the pleasure of great food. Colonnade Hospitality was responsible for the concept (the first of its kind in the Viking portfolio) and worked with Viking to transform their indoor curriculum to the outdoor grill.
